The public meeting scheduled for Thursday 21 September to discuss Thornhill Place Plan has been postponed. This is due to unforeseen circumstances and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. We have rescheduled the meeting to Sunday 26 November 2023, 2 – 5pm, Thornhill Community Hall. Please look out for more information about the event nearer the time.
Norrieston Nook is a pop-up coffee shop being run by a local couple on Saturday 16th September, 10am – 3pm (or cake sell out!) in the Norrieston Church Hall, Main Sreet, Thornhill.
There will be a kids corner so the adults can enjoy some good coffee, delicious baking and connect with the community.
Local artist/crafts people are invited to set up a stall in the hall, for a little impromptu craft fair with local crafts for sales such as Thornhill’s very own beautiful wood-turn creations, gift cards of local scenes and some delicious Mad Hare Apiary honey from the Granary. TCT has signed up to collect inkjet cartridges for recycling via The Recycling Factory.
This will help to reduce plastic waste sent to landfill and for every eligible cartridge recycle TCT will receive a small donation for our community fund.

Ink Cartridge Recycling
Children in Stirling are being encouraged to keep their minds active at the end of term, with the return of the Summer Reading Challenge.
Throughout the summer holidays, children aged 4-11 can take part in ‘Ready, Set, Read!’ by visiting any Stirling Council library or the Summer Reading Challenge website. The theme of this year’s challenge is centred on the power of play, sport and physical activity.
Through activity challenge cards from the Youth Sport Trust, and an exciting themed book collection, the Summer Reading Challenge aims to keep imaginations flowing over the school holiday.
By participating in the challenge, young bookworms will have the opportunity to explore new reading material, develop skills, and discover new interests.
As an added incentive to take part, children who complete the Summer Reading Challenge will qualify for free admission to a number of attractions and activities across Stirling, through partnerships formed with the Council’s Libraries Service.
The free activities* that are offered for completing the reading challenge with Stirling Council Libraries include:
– Free admission to Blair Drummond Safari Park
– Free admission to Briarlands Farm
– Free admission to the National Wallace Monument
– Free entry for swimming at The Peak, The University of Stirling Sport or Bellrock Balfron Campus
Recyke-a-bike – Holiday Hub and bike donation requests and Community Cycle Training
Recyke-a-bike are holding a series of low-cost lessons for children and families over the summer.
They are also holding weekly free to attend biking activity sessions at Ochil Road Playpark from July 10th until August 14th.
Free Adult Cycle Training lessons include: adult beginner lessons, adult on road lessons, family cycling sessions (on road – instruction on adults shielding younger riders) and cargo bike lessons.

Free summer holiday workshops – Thornhill – 4 August (11am-3pm).
Free summer holiday workshops have been arranged for Stirling’s pupils to create banners and flags for the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships’ events in the area.
Stirling will stage the Individual Time Trials from Wednesday 9 August to Friday 11 August for all categories – Men Elite, Women Elite, U23 Men and Men and Women Juniors.
The art workshops will be held in communities along the routes and will give children and young people the opportunity to design banners and signs to wave as the world’s best cyclists pass by during three days of thrilling racing.
The drop-in workshops are open to children aged 5-14 and will be supported by artists from Creative Stirling and GOSSIP Collective, with some part of the Council’s Play in the Park events.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times at the sessions, which will take place at these locations at the following dates and times:
CYP have announced their Summer 2023 programme with a range of activities on offer. The programme is open to any young person from P6 to S3 (based on new school year after summer – meaning current P5 are eligible to sign up). Please note that young people must live or attend school in the McLaren High catchment area in order to participate.

Thanks to funding from The Conundrum Trust every session on this programme will be free to sign up for. There are limited spaces available for each session therefore we will open the sign-up window until the evening of Tuesday 20th June (after the last youth club of school term) before randomly allocating spaces based on drawing names – we hope this gives everyone a fair chance of involvement.
