On Saturday 6th December, Thornhill is celebrating Light Up Thornhill 2025. Everyone is welcome to join the parade through the village to the sound of the pipes as those along main street switch on their lights to light the way to the community hall.

At the hall there will be music to a brass band, singing and a very special bearded guest to give out gifts once the children have decorated the tree.

Common Grounds Cafe will serve hot chocolate, mulled wine (including alcohol-free) and christmas bakes (gluten and dairy free available) which you can enjoy to the sounds of the harpist.

It will be a fun and special evening for everyone across the community to come together and celebrate the festive season.

Meet at the church hall from 5.45pm for the parade starting at 6pm arriving at the community hall from 6.15pm. It is a by donation event and light up wands will be available for sale. The cubs will help marshall the parade and will have a marshmallow pit outside the hall for an extra sweet treat.

Any one who would like to volunteer with set up, marshalling the parade, helping in the hall or tidying up please be in touch with Fiona Morison 07947319006. Come and enjoy the start to the sparkliest time of the year, everyone is welcome.

There is also the lovely village tradition of the annual advent windows, where households unveil their decorated window. The creativity is usually outstanding and makes it a wonderful village walk around on a frosty December evening.
