Regional Digital Hubs

Information from Stirling Council:

Outline plans to deliver a network of Regional Digital Hubs across Stirling and Clackmannanshire have been approved by the City Region Deal Joint Committee.

New, high quality, digitally connected business space will be set up across Stirling and Clackmannanshire under the programme, allowing growing companies to stay local and create new and exciting opportunities across the area.

Read the full report.

Backed by £2million of investment from the Scottish Government through the £90.2million Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region Deal, the Hubs will be established in Cowie, Callander and Clackmannanshire to benefit urban, rural and disadvantaged areas of the region.

Stirling Council Leader, Cllr Scott Farmer, said: “Within 10 years, the Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region aims to be recognised as one of the UK’s leading areas for digital technology and as a centre of excellence for digital skills and education across a number of sectors.

The project will bring businesses together and foster innovation and rapid growth through collaborative working and targeted business mentoring and support.”

Cllr Ellen Forson, Clackmannanshire Council Leader, said: “The Digital Hubs will align with the Stirling & Clackmannanshire City Region Deal’s Skills and Inclusion Programme, which will deliver training through businesses, schools, STEP, Forth Valley College, the University of Stirling and local partners.

Deadline for responding to Inverdunning planning application closed.

Stirling Council granted us an extension to submit responses to this complex planning proposal. However, the deadline has now passed.

I would like to thank everyone who took time to contact the council with your views. Amazing community spirit 👏 👏 👏

Free Bus Travel for 5-21 year olds

Striling Council update:

From January 2022, 5-21 year olds living in Scotland will be eligible to benefit from free bus travel. Children and young people who are 5-21 years old will need a new or replacement National Entitlement Card (NEC) or Young Scot National Entitlement Card (Young Scot NEC) to travel for free by bus. Parents or guardians of 5-15 year olds must apply on their behalf. Children under 5 years old already travel for free on commercial bus services and do not need a card.

More information on the scheme can be found here: https://www.transport.gov.scot/concessionary-travel/young-persons-free-bus-travel-scheme/

Template letter for Planning Application

A planning specialist working for a large firm has produced this objection letter with instructions as attached.  It focuses on the areas which he reckons are most likely to allow effective objections.

  • The letter will be effective if sent as is following the instructions.  i.e. no problem if used by multiple people as long as it is from a named resident with address.
  • The letter can be added to with an individual’s other views / objections or these can be included in a covering email.  So this letter does not detract from the value of detailed objection in other areas.
  • While there’s nothing to stop multiple objection letters from one individual he thought it slightly better for each person to send all their objections in one go.
  • It could also be uploaded to the Planning Portal (though formatting goes).
  • It’s  important to copy in the people he suggests.  The Community Council is copied to keep them in the loop as to comments / objections / numbers / issues which they might then use as evidence.
  • He says it’s good we have specialists to tackle the environmental / flooding etc. assessments (as well as flaws in the pre planning consultation).  However at first glance he reckoned that flooding / sewage / water issues were fairly likely to be overcome by a developer.

Planning documents for Burnside Development

There seems to be problems with the planning portal so we have downloaded the documents and placed them in a folder in the TCT shared drive. They are at

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1fX7ls446FajETuxU-NfXvhJQ1iGwjulR?usp=sharing

Please make sure you close the link down after use so as not to overload our system.

We would urge you to submit your own responses to the Planning Department as well as CC/TCT, as seemingly the Council take more notice if there is a high number of comments.

Currently we’re working towards the 30th December deadline.
