Corona Virus Update 15/4/2020

Information from Councillor Martin Earl

The Scottish Government have changed their position on awarding grants to businesses in Scotland. Businesses are now able to claim per property rather than one grant of 25k for whole business.

This will see £25,000 given to the first business property, with subsequent premises given 75 per cent of that. This now brings the position in Scotland more closely into line with that operating in the rest of the UK. A new national helpline has been launched to provide essential assistance to those who don’t have a network of support but who are at high risk of contracting COVID-19. The number is 0800 111 4000 and it will initially operate during core working hours of 9am-5pm while plans are developed and implemented to extend it to operate for a longer period each day. It will offer help to those who do not have family or existing community support and cannot get online and who are over 70, disabled, require the support of mental health services, are pregnant or receive a flu jab for health reasons.
