Information from Councillor Martin Earl
1. In some areas the Brown Bins were not collected on their last scheduled collection days of 28/29 March – This was just before the new emergency collections were introduced that stopped any further Brown Bin collections until the collections can return to their normal cycle. I am pleased to be able to advise that I have received the following information from Waste Services :-
‘The service has put additional collection resources in place to carry out a one off collection for the customers affected. These additional brown bin collections are scheduled from Thursday 23rd April through Sunday 26th.
Please note that the scheduled servicing of blue bins on that week will also be carried out on your normal collection day. We will be writing to all affected residents to inform which day they should present their brown bins for uplift’.
2. Today a statement by the Scottish Government was issued that clarifies the previous ‘advice’ for people to not travel to another area to get outside.
The National Park along and Forestry & Land Scotland have issued updated statements/info https://www.lochlomond-trossachs.org/park-authority/blog/visitors-urged-stay-home-stay-local-bank-holiday-weekend/
3. Information below on two grant schemes available from Persimmon Homes.
Persimmon Homes Grant Opportunities
These are very difficult times and as local communities take action to contain the outbreak of Covid- 19, Persimmon Homes is keenly aware that the charity sector is experiencing particular hardship.
With this in mind, we wanted to share details of two amazing charity schemes that Persimmon is actively operating, which will see millions of pounds handed out to groups supporting – specifically the under-18s and people aged over 70.
Persimmon’s Charitable Foundation has this week committed to relaunching its Building Futures scheme for 2020. As part of its sponsorship of Team GB, Persimmon will donate more than £1 million to support children in sport, health and education. We are calling on local groups within your area which support children to apply. It can all be done online remotely at www.persimmonhomes.com/building-futures.
Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative has run since 2015 and gives away £64,000 every month in single donations up to the value of £1,000. So far over £3.5 million has been donated in the UK.
Persimmon has decided that from April 2020 all funding will go directly to groups supporting the over 70s. www.persimmonhomes.com/community-champions
